2 Hit By Car In Arlington Stop And Shop Parking Lot: Police

According to police, access to the store on Massachusetts Avenue will likely be disrupted through Saturday afternoon.

ARLINGTON, MA — Two people were hospitalized Saturday after police said they were hit by a car in the parking lot of an Arlington Stop and Shop.

According to Arlington police, authorities were called to the store located at 905 Massachusetts Ave. shortly after 10:15 a.m. for a report of a crash involving multiple pedestrians.

According to police, an 87-year-old Belmont man driving a 2005 Mercury Marquis pulled into the parking lot before hitting a parked, unoccupied vehicle. The man backed up and hit two pedestrians, police said.

The pedestrians, a 61-year-old Arlington woman and a 70-year-old Randolph man, were taken to nearby hospitals, police said. The driver of the Mercury was treated at the scene and also taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation. According to police, access to the store will likely be disrupted through Saturday afternoon.
