Arlington Artists Will Be Part Of Exhibit In Belmont

"Showing Up: The Practice of Art" features the work of a group of artists who have been meeting online since the pandemic.

BELMONT, MA — Four Arlington-based artists are involved with an exhibit opening this weekend in Belmont.

Called "Showing Up: The Practice of Art," the exhibit is scheduled to run from Sept. 9 to Oct. 22 at the Belmont Gallery of Art, located at 19 Moore Street on the 3rd Floor of the Homer Building.

The exhibit features the work of 20 artists — representing a group called Art Chat — who began meeting regularly online during the pandemic to offer mutual support and feedback.

The Art Chat sessions are facilitated by Arlington-based art educator Adria Arch, who has curated this exhibit.

Most of the participants in the Art Chat group are from Massachusetts, and three Arlington-based artists whose work will be part of "Showing Up" are Monica DeSalvo, Gerry Menz and Connie Thibaut, according to Your Arlington.

The exhibit features a wide variety of themes and media including video, painting, collage, printmaking, artist books and sculpture.

An exhibit opening reception is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
