ARLINGTON, MA — The town received a third grant from MassDOT's Shared Streets and Spaces program to fund upgrades to the Medford Street parklet. These will include new seating, umbrellas and plantings.

The parklet was identified for equipment upgrades due to its frequent usage and prominent location on busy Medford Street. A section of Park Terrace will continue to be closed to vehicle traffic to accommodate the outdoor seating area and pedestrian plaza.

The Shared Streets and Spaces Program supports projects that promote public health, safe mobility, and renewed commerce by quickly providing new or repurposed space for socially-distanced walking, bicycling, dining, retail and bus travel. The grant award for this third round is $50,000.
