Arlington, MA – May 25, 2021 – As a vital part of the Arlington community, the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture is pleased to announce the launch of Spruce Up, Arlington: Get Your Sparkle On! , a spring revitalization campaign in collaboration with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.

Following the unprecedented year behind us, this initiative aims to "reconnect, restore, and revitalize the town by sparking economic vitality through the arts," says ACAC Commissioner Christine Noah, who has been soliciting business sponsors to help the Commission create opportunities for local artists, beautify our business districts, and support a thriving main street.

"Not only will this work make Arlington more vibrant," says ACAC co-chair Cristin Canterbury Bagnall, who also serves on the town's economic development recovery task force, "but it will also play a key role in the town’s economic recovery by drawing residents and visitors to local business districts."

“An engaging and attractive streetscape is vital to the economic success of our businesses as we emerge from the pandemic,” says Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Beth Locke, an ACAC Commissioner. “This project aligns perfectly with one of our core goals which is to ensure that Arlington is a place where the appearance of business districts is valued and maintained by residents, business owners, and Town government.”

Businesses townwide have responded enthusiastically to the call for sponsorship, seeing it as an opportunity to help kickstart Arlington’s regrowth this spring. Inaugural sponsors include American Alarm, Coldwell Banker, Column Health, Custom Contracting, The Legacy at Arlington Center, Mirak Properties, Sound Postings and Watertown Savings Bank. The organizers emphasize that businesses supporting at any level within their means are "welcomed partners" to be included in Spruce Up promotions.
