Arlington Community Education (ACE) fall registration is now open. Catalogs are on the way to Arlington mailboxes, featuring hundreds of classes for adults, youth, and families. The catalog is also viewable online at ArlingtonCommunityEd.org. Most classes begin the last week of September.

There are more than 325 adult classes, with a mix of in-person, outdoor, and online options. Evening classes will be held during the week in the new building at Arlington High School and at Gibbs School, plus during the day at the Community Center and other locations around town. Out & About offerings include nearly 30 food, history, and nature tours to get you exploring beyond Arlington, and a new series of environmentally-focused classes will help you think globally but act locally. A continuing partnership with the nonprofit organization Scholarium gives the public access to college-caliber courses led by area academics on topics including Daoism, religion & science, and the Gender Revolution. An expanded Wellness & Life section features many new classes, including pelvic and bladder health, hip and neck mobility, and lucid dreaming.

Over 130 ACE Kids enrichment classes will be held after school at all campuses, and there are also evening and weekend offerings for youth, as well as nearly a dozen family classes for adults and children to enjoy together. New classes include Cartoons & Comics, Filmmaking, Science Storytelling, and Chinese cooking with a much-beloved Dallin teacher. New family classes include candle, kite, and ornament-making.

This term’s catalog features artwork by Cover Art Contest winner Debra Bretton Robinson. Educated at Mass Art in Boston and practicing out of her studio at Western Avenue in Lowell, Debra is a contemporary landscape painter whose colorful and sanguine architectural themes evoke a warm sense of community and belonging. Her painting “In the Driveway” was inspired by a Watertown neighborhood. Find more of her work at

“The ACE staff was drawn to the unique color palette and vibrancy of Debra’s painting, as well as the cozy feeling that it evokes. The warm golden glow in the windows is so inviting and it makes you wonder what is going on inside those walls,” said ACE Director Jen Rothenberg. “Perhaps there is a candle flickering on the windowsill to brighten the shorter days of autumn, the aroma of a fresh baked pie is in the air, and the sound of lively laughter echoes through the hallways.”
