The Arlington Community Education (ACE) fall 2022 catalog is now available for preview, with hundreds of classes for adults, youth, and families. Registration opens next Tuesday, August 9, at noon. Catalogs are on the way to Arlington addresses, or you can view the catalog online at ArlingtonCommunityEd.org. Most classes begin the last week of September.

There are over 250 adult classes, with a mix of in-person, outdoor, and online options. Adult evening classes will take place Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the new building at Arlington High School, Thursdays at Gibbs School, plus during the day at the new Community Center (formerly Senior Center) and other locations around town. ACE has 30 new adult instructors this fall and there are over 75 new classes such as origami, food photography, German, fermentation, storytelling, and expressive dance.

ACE Kids classes will be held after school at all campuses. New classes include art and theater in Spanish, ninja warriors, hip hop dance, digital photography, and creative role playing. There are also evening and weekend offerings, college planning and Driver’s Education for high schoolers, and over a dozen family classes for adults and children to take together.

This term’s catalog features artwork by Cover Art Contest winner Boriana Kantcheva. Originally from Bulgaria, Boriana has lived and worked in the Boston area for over 20 years. Currently, she is Director of Visual Arts at Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown. Boriana’s newest gouache on paper paintings are inspired by the book Into the Forest by Jean Hegland. They are imagined journeys into the myth, wonder, and danger of the natural world. In “Fall House,” the forest becomes a source of inspiration and comfort, offering a place of peaceful introspection, and a child-like longing to return to a more natural state. “The ACE staff was captivated by the intricate details and the lush color palette of Boriana’s painting,” said ACE Director Jen Rothenberg. “We chose her work because of how the complexity of her imagery compels you to take a closer look.”

If you do not receive a printed catalog in the mail and would like one, they are available in news bins near Capitol Theater and Trader Joe's. You can also view the entire catalog and register for all classes at ArlingtonCommunityEd.org. Many classes fill quickly and under-enrolled classes are canceled, so be sure to reserve your spot early.
