Arlington Community Education Winter Registration Now Open

Arlington Community Education (ACE) winter registration is now open. Catalogs featuring hundreds of classes for adults, families, and kids are being printed and will be mailed to Arlington addresses. The catalog is viewable online at ArlingtonCommunityEd.org.

There are 222 adult classes, with a mix of in-person, outdoor, and online options. Evening classes will take place in the new building at Arlington High School and at Gibbs School, plus during the day at the Community Center (formerly Senior Center) and other locations around town. New classes this term include Oxford punch needling, upholstery, French opera, harmonica, self-defense for women, BollyX, vegetable gardening and seed starting, and many more. A new partnership with the nonprofit organization Scholarium will bring programs taught by academics on topics including music, religion, and medicine.

ACE Kids classes will be held after school at all campuses. New classes include watercolor pencils, plant science, puppetry, Mandarin, and painting miniatures for game play. There are also evening and weekend offerings, college planning, and Driver’s Education for high schoolers. Over a dozen family classes give adults and children the opportunity to learn together, including new classes in henna art, mandala rock painting, and a tour of the Boston Fire Museum. Registration is also open for February VacationFun.

This term’s catalog features artwork by Cover Art Contest winner Jordan Lally. An Arlington high school student (class of 2025), Jordan painted “Colors of Koi,” a colorful depiction of a koi fish, for the townwide Youth Banner Contest in 2021. She reflected the theme of “Color,” by utilizing a stained glass style of design. Water and lily pads in various shades surround the swimming fish. If you do not receive a printed catalog in the mail and would like one, they will be available in news bins near Capitol Theater and Trader Joes and at the Fox and Robbins libraries. Many classes fill quickly and under-enrolled classes are canceled, so be sure to reserve your spot early.
