Among the highlights connected to this year's festival are:

  • The Walter V. Moynihan Town Day Run, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Arlington Reservoir. Registration for the Arlington Recreation-sponsored two-mile run is available online and all proceeds will benefit youth programming. Following the race, the location will feature a DJ, bounce house and a food and beer tent.
  • The Arlington Fire Department will sponsor a Touch-a-Truck, Smoke House — which will teach kids about fire hazards in the home — and Jaws of Life demonstrations behind the Robbins Library, 700 Massachusetts Ave.
  • The Arlington Police Department will have a booth at the Robbins Library entrance. In addition to being on hand to provide assistance, APD Officer Michael Hogan and APD K-9 Eiko will be conducting demonstrations in the Robbins Library parking lot.

Arlington officials also noted that Town Day is a bring-your-own-water bottle event. Attendees will be able to fill up their water bottles with free drinking water, available at a kiosk sponsored by the Zero Waste Committee's campaign to reduce single-use plastics in town.
