Arlington Superintendent Shares Condolences To Newton Community

ARLINGTON, MA – Arlington Public Schools Superintendent Elizabeth Homan has expressed her condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the triple homicide in Newton, which included members of the Arlington community.

“Jill and Bruno D'Amore, as well as Lucia Arpino, were the grandparents and great grandparents of students from two of our APS schools,” Homan said in the statement.

She called the killings a “senseless act of violence” and expressed the district’s sincerest condolences to Arlington public schools families and staff on the loss.

On Thursday, drop-in social work support at Stratton Elementary School was made available to students from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and on Friday, June 30 support staff will be made available virtually on Zoom (sign up here, and use this Zoom link).

“It is in moments like these that we must reinforce our commitment to one another, to kindness, and to healing,” Homan said.

She reminded community members that The Children’s Room, located at 1210 Massachusetts Ave. in Arlington, offers grief support for children and their families.
