Arlington Voter Guide: Special Town Election Is Tuesday

Here is what you need to know for the election, which features 2 questions on the ballot.

ARLINGTON, MA — The Town of Arlington is holding a Special Town Election on Tuesday.

Just two "Yes/No" questions are on the ballot. A sample ballot is available online.

  • Question 1: Shall the Town of Arlington be allowed to assess an additional $7,000,000 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of funding the operating budgets of the Town and the Public Schools for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024?
  • Question 2: Shall this town accept the provisions of Chapter 285 of the Acts of 2020 "An Act Authorizing the Town of Arlington to Establish a Means Tested Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption?"

The deadline to register to vote for the upcoming Special Election was Saturday, October 28.

In-Person Voting On Election Day will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Find out where you vote online. A list of polling places is available on the Town of Arlington website.

Vote by Mail is available. A postcard application was mailed to all voters in late September. The deadline to apply for a mailed ballot or to request to vote online (overseas voters or voters requesting accommodations) was Oct. 31.

To return a Vote by Mail ballot, residents should:

  • Mail it back using the envelope provided
  • Hand-deliver it to the local election office at Town Hall, 730 Mass. Ave. in Arlington.
  • Use a Ballot Drop Box, which are located at: Town Hall, 730 Mass. Ave., ACMi Studio, 85 Park Ave., and Fox Library, 175 Mass Ave.

Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
