Arlington's 'Dalydouble,' Married 62 Years, Die Two Days Apart

Former state representative Joseph Daly and his wife, Janet, were active in the Arlington community for decades.

ARLINGTON, MA — Joseph and Janet Daly, a longtime Arlington couple known lovingly as the "dalydouble," have died. Joseph Daly passed away Feb. 10, followed by Janet Feb. 12, according to their obituaries.

Joseph Daly was a lifelong Arlington resident and Korean War veteran who served as a Town Meeting member, state representative and commander of the Arlington Legion Post 39. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Disabled American Vets and Retired Men's Club of Arlington, his obituary states.

Daly served on the board of the Arlington Housing Authority until last June.

Janet Daly was a Quincy native whose family was the "center of her life," according to her obituary. She was an "all Boston" sports fan, particularly of the Celtics.

"Janet was a devoted mother, friend and neighbor," her obituary states.

Visitation for relatives and friends was held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a funeral mass at St. Agnes Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment took place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
