ARLINGTON, MA — Beach season is coming to a close at the Arlington Reservoir. The 2021 summer season will end Friday, Aug. 20.

There will be no access to the beach area starting Monday, Aug. 23 so the beach improvement project can get underway, including site preparation and construction of a new playground. The parking lot to the reservoir will be closed from Aug. 23 to early October for renovations, which includes the installation of a new boat ramp.

Portions of the perimeter path will remain open as much as possible throughout the fall, and renovations are expected to be completed by the end of September. Installation of the new fishing and viewing piers will be determined by the reservoir's water level, but that is also planned for this fall.

Plantings, signs and other path accessories will be installed throughout the project. The project is projected to be mostly completed by Dec. 1 and fully done by May 31, 2022.
