Brian Rehrig, Active Across Arlington, Dies At 67

Rehrig, a founding board member of the Arlington Land Trust, also served on Town Meeting and was a key figure in many political campaigns.

ARLINGTON, MA — Brian Rehrig, a longtime presence in local and state politics, died Jan. 21 following a long illness. He was 67 years old.

Rehrig "spent his last days surrounded by loved ones; listening to Bach, showtunes, and James Taylor; and wearing tee shirts from political campaigns: in other words, as he lived," according to his obituary.

Rehrig loved nature and was dedicated to protecting open spaces for recreational use. He was a founding board member of the Arlington Land Trust and served as its treasurer for more than 20 years.

Rehrig's contribution to Arlington extended beyond the Land Trust. He served on Town Meeting for more than 30 years, as vice chair of The Symmes Advisory Committee and Capital Planning Committee, and on the Arlington High School Building Committee.

Rehrig was a key figure in many local and state political campaigns for his expertise with campaign data, "inspiring and encouraging candidates to run for office," his obituary states.

A memorial ceremony will be held this spring. Interment will be private.
