Family Launches Fundraiser After Arlington Man's Truck Stolen

ARLINGTON, MA — An ongoing GoFundMe campaign this week is looking to rally support for an Arlington man after his truck and walker-wheelchair were stolen over the weekend, according to a fundraiser description and a report from WCVB.

WCVB first reported the theft on Monday, reporting that longtime Arlington resident and disabled veteran John Versackas saw his truck and wheelchair had been stolen Saturday morning.

Police were investigating as of Monday, according to WCVB. Arlington Police Chief Julie Flaherty later told Patch the investigation was ongoing as of Wednesday morning.

Versackas' family is trying to help in the meantime through its fundraiser.

Versackas, the fundraiser description says, is on a fixed income and “needs some help replacing his truck and other items that were stolen.”

“While insurance will cover some of the costs, it will not cover everything that was taken,” the description continues.

The fundraiser had taken in just over $10,500 as of Thursday morning on its way to a $12,000 goal.
