Fidelity House gears up for Fall season

Summer is ending, the weather is cooling off, and school is back in full swing. Fidelity House is about to begin their group of fall programs, and they truly have something for everyone! From sports to cooking, fitness to mystery novels, children and adults of all interests can certainly find something they might want to try out. Here are a few programs that will be starting in the coming weeks.

PRESCHOOL AND PRE-K PROGRAM STILL ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS

The Fidelity House Preschool and Pre-K programs, both licensed by the Dept. of Early Education & Child Care, still have spots open for the 2018-2019 school year. If you are interested in signing up, head over to FidelityHouse.org to register, or stop by Fidelity House (25 Medford Street, Arlington) to sign up.

SKILLS & DRILLS BASKETBALL CLINIC

One of the fall programs that has already begun, Skills & Drills offers children in grades 2-12 an opportunity to hone their basketball skills and prepare for the upcoming season. Work on skill work, conditioning, and improving your basketball IQ in a fun environment. The program takes place on Mondays, starting this past Monday, Sept. 17. Children in grades 2-5 play from 4:00-4:40pm, grades 6-8 from 4:45-5:30pm, and grades 9-12 from 5:30-7:00pm. Children in grades 2-5 enrolled in the Fidelity House School Ages Child Care Program on the day of the program can participate for free. Drop-ins are also available for an established fee. TOT SPORTS/SPORTS ACADEMY

Fidelity House will be offering sports classes, both after school for SACCP participants, and during the day for Preschool/Pre-K programs, starting the week on Sept. 24. Tot Sports Academy, for children ages 3-5 years old, will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:30-1:15pm. Mondays will be basketball, Wednesdays will be Floor Hockey, and Fridays will be soccer. All classes start the week of Sept. 24. SACCP participants, children in grades K-5, will have their Sports Academy classes on Tuesdays (Whiffle Ball) and Fridays (Kickball). K-1 meets from 3:15-4:00pm, and grades 2-5 meet from 4:00-4:45pm. INTRAMURAL FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Arlington's longest-running flag football league begins on Wednesday, Sept. 26. This co-ed league for children in grades 4-8 takes place from 3:30-4:30pm in the St. Agnes parking lot. The league culminates with the Turkey Bowl Championship game on Wednesday, Nov. 21. If interested, register at FidelityHouse.org and join in on one of the towns best fall traditions.

PIANO PLAYTIME

Fidelity House will be hosting piano lessons throughout the school year on Tuesday afternoons. Children ages 3-14 can learn to play the piano without even having to leave FiHo. Tuition costs $65 per month, with a one-time registration fee of $25 to cover the piano book. For more information, visit pianoplaytime.com.

NANCY DREW MYSTERY BOOK CLUB

If you are a girl in grades 2-6 who enjoys reading Nancy Drew mystery books, then Fidelity House has the program for you. Spend your Saturdays from 12:15-1:00pm reading/discussing Nancy Drew books, doing real-life mystery activities, and training to be sleuths! The 8-week program begins Saturday, Sept. 29, and costs $32. Visit FidelityHouse.org to register.

NOW UR COOKING CLASS

Fidelity House offers an after school cooking class for children in grades 5-8 on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm. Participants will learn about basic nutrition, how to eat healthy, and make delicious treats. The program will take place in the large, modern kitchen at Fidelity House Site 2.
