ARLINGTON, MA — Arlington schools will be let out early on Monday, Jan. 3 and Tuesday, Jan. 4 as the district responds to "rapidly increasing" case rates in town, Superintendent Liz Homan said.

On those days, all students and staff who have consented to testing will be given PCR pooled tests, and grab-and-go lunch options will be available for students. Students should go home following dismissal and avoid gathering with peers, Homan said.

  • All elementary schools and Menotomy Preschool will close at 11:30am on Monday and Tuesday. After-school care is also canceled on these days. Opening time remains the same: 8:10 am at all elementary schools, 8:30 am at Menotomy Preschool.
  • All middle and high schools will close at 12 pm on Monday and Tuesday. Opening time remains the same: 8:30 am for Gibbs, Ottoson, and AHS.

Families whose children are not currently participating in pooled testing should contact their school principal and/or nurse on Monday if they wish to provide consent.
