ARLINGTON, MA — A Mass. Ave. restaurant is in the early stages of a comeback following a two-alarm fire in April.

The fire, which started in the kitchen of Thai Moon, caused an estimated $500,000 in damages to the restaurant, fire officials said at the time.

Ownership said Tuesday the damaged equipment and debris had been removed from the space. Crews have made "significant progress" clearing out the dining room, kitchen and basement in order to remove the smoke damage, according to a statement on the Thai Moon Facebook page.

"There is still be a lot of work ahead of us in order to rebuild and bring the business back, and we'll make sure to keep you posted along the way," the statement continued.

Fire Chief Kevin Kelley told Patch partner YourArlington in April that the kitchen, which had major fire and smoke damage, appeared to be a total loss.
