Parking Meters In Arlington Center Are Being Replaced

All single-space parking meters in Arlington Center are being replaced. During this time these meters will not require payment. This will include the meters located on Mass Ave between Franklin Street and Jason/Mill Street, Broadway between Franklin Street and Webster Street, Broadway Plaza, Alton Street between Broadway and Belton, Medford Street, Peg Spengler Way adjacent to the Unitarian Church, and Court Street.

The 4-hour time limit in each zone as well as the posted hours for the commercial vehicle loading zone on Alton Street will still be enforced.

This policy will not apply to the municipal lots (Russell Common, Rail Road Ave, Library Lot) where vouchers are purchased from a multi-space kiosk and displayed on one’s dashboard.

This policy will be in effect until all of the newly purchased single-space meters are replaced, which is tentatively expected to be completed by April 15, 2023.

The meters were approaching their end of their useful life and were scheduled to be replaced in late 2022. However, due to supply chain issues they are not able to be replaced until March. As many of them are failing, the Town decided to remove the payment requirement until all meters are in working order.
