Registration opens 2/14 for ACE SummerFun program

SummerFun! will run for six weeks from July 5–August 11 at Ottoson Middle School for youth in grades 1–9+.

Make your child’s summer engaging, active, and memorable with Arlington Community Education’s SummerFun! program. The catalog is now available for preview. Registration will open Tuesday, February 14 at noon at www.ArlingtonCommunityEd.org. All youth registrations must be made online in advance.

SummerFun! will run for six weeks from July 5–August 11 at Ottoson Middle School for youth in grades 1–9+. No two kids are the same, that’s why SummerFun! offers more than 100 fun and creative classes in arts & crafts, cooking, movement, games, dance, music, theater, STEM, and more. Families from Arlington and other communities are welcome.

Families can choose individual classes in the mornings (9:00–12:00), afternoons (12:30–3:30), or combine both for a full day. A supervised lunch/recess period is included at no additional charge for students enrolled in a full day. Optional extended day runs in the mornings (8:00–9:00 M–F) and/or afternoons (3:30–5:30 M–Th).

New this summer is a special selection of classes for grades 9–12, held in the new wing of Arlington High School, with options including pottery, jewelry, sewing, and leatherworking. For grades 8–12, AHS Summer Stock is a two-week, full-day theater arts program led by Arlington High School’s Drama Director Michael Byrne, which will culminate with two evening performances open to the public. A one-week college application bootcamp, SAT review, and driver’s ed are also available this summer for high schoolers.

There are also limited spots still available for next week’s VacationFun! program, which runs Tuesday through Friday, February 21 through 24, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, at Ottoson Middle School. Add some structure and fun to the school break with creative classes in STEM, art & crafts, theater, languages, sports, and LARP for grades K–8. Choose mornings, afternoons, or combine for a full day.

Partial tuition assistance is available for most ACE youth programs for APS students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. Please contact the ACE office for details at [email protected].
