ARLINGTON, MA — Arlington Police warned community members on Thursday to be aware of an ongoing scam involving individuals trying to pose as police via phone calls.

Police said their phone number — 781-643-1212 — has recently been spoofed. Scammers have been calling residents threatening arrests if residents don’t gather funds to pay the police, according to Thursday’s Arlington police announcement.

Police said anyone who receives such a call should hang up and avoid providing any personal or financial information. Police added that they will never call residents asking them to pay for anything.
