ARLINGTON, MA — A new Italian restaurant from the team behind a well-received eatery in Somerville is replacing Luigi's Italian Kitchen in East Arlington. Venice Italian Kitchen, an offshoot of Alfredo's in Somerville's Winter Hill neighborhood, has moved into the former Luigi's space on Mass. Ave.

Earlier this month, the Select Board approved a food license for the restaurant, citing "positive reviews" from the Winter Hill location, YourArlington reported. Venice will serve pizza, subs, calzones, pasta, salads and more, similar to Luigi's.

The restaurant space at 242 Massachusetts Ave. has long been a hub for Italian fare. Luigi's replaced Sabatino's Italian Kitchen, which closed in 2016 after a heating oil spill and burst pipe caused structural damage to the building.
