William Haxton Sr., 88, of Arlington

A beloved husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and more.

ARLINGTON, MA — William "Bill" Raymond Haxton Sr., A longtime resident of Arlington, died Monday Jan. 16, 2017 at the age of 88 after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Leroy and Bernice Haxton, also longtime residents of Arlington, MA.

Bill leaves his beloved wife Carmela of 64 years. Bill was the loving father of 4 children, son William Jr. and wife Carol Haxton of Greeneville, TN, daughter Deborah and husband David Keeley of Arlington, MA, son Scott Haxton of Burlington, MA, and son James Haxton of Arlington, MA. He was also the cherished grandfather of Sharon Keeley of Watertown, MA and Jonathan Keeley of Chicago, IL. Bill leaves a brother Robert Haxton of Alpharetta, GA and a sister Jean Rossetti of Bridgewater, MA. Bill was proceeded in death by his older brother Leroy Haxton.

Bill was a graduate of Arlington High School specializing in electronics. While in the Air Force stationed in Korea, he was responsible for maintaining the communication radios. Bill furthered his career working for several electronic firms before retiring from Sears Roebuck after 27 years.

He was a devoted minister of God spreading his faith, hope, and love to all. Bill served as an elder in the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 46 years. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 29th at 2pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 196 Woburn Street, Lexington, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses by visiting www.jw.org.
