Beverly Winter Storm: Parking Ban Begins Tuesday Afternoon

With up to 6 inches of snow expected into the eventing, Beverly calls for a snow emergency parking ban.

BEVERLY, MA — A snow emergency was called for 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon with a third winter storm forecast for the North Shore within the past seven days.

Parking is off-limits on city streets starting late Tuesday afternoon and could run for up to 24 hours.

Violators of the ban are subject to ticketing and towing. Residents can park in municipal lots with rates applying during normal business hours. The MBTA garage at Rantoul Street is available at a discounted rate. Short-term parking is available, but overnight parking is not.

Residents are asked to clear out fire hydrants, shovel sidewalks, not dump snow into the street and remove any basketball hoops from the street.

Beverly Public Schools have postponed after-school activities, including sports.

Snowfall was expected to begin between 8 a.m.-10 a.m. in central Massachusetts and 10 a.m.-noon in eastern Massachusetts. It's expected to continue for about 12 hours, with the heaviest of it coming between 2 p.m.-7 p.m.

North and west of Boston are under a winter storm warning and expected to get the worst of it. Places like Worcester, Amherst, Lawrence and Newburyport are looking at 6-8 inches.
