Obituary: Barbara L Ciupak, Very Involved With Youth Activities and Volunteered With Local Organizations

She enjoyed gardening, swimming, bowling, shopping, attending local Polish festivals, and dancing the Polka with her husband.

Barbara L Ciupak (Hilton-Gulbrandsen) age 86, wife of Karl G Ciupak died Monday, July 12, 2015 at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Barbara was born in Beverly, the daughter of the late Austin Hilton, Sr. and the late Olive (Fielding) Hilton. Barbara graduated from Beverly High School in the class of 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Beverly.

Barbara was employed with the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment until her retirement. She was a member of the Beverly Mothers Club, Ryal Side Civic Association and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Barbara was very involved with youth activities and volunteered with local organizations including The Myles McPherson Youth Center and the Chuting Stars and Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corp of Danvers.

Barbara and her husband Karl had a summer home in Lyman Maine she loved spending time at with her family and friends and her beloved dog “Twiggy.” Barbara enjoyed gardening, swimming, bowling, shopping, attending local Polish Festivals and dancing the Polka with her husband Karl.

Surviving her in addition to her husband are 3 children, Philip R. Gulbrandsen of Beverly and Lars E. Gulbrandsen of Bradford and Sandra Gulbrandsen Steele of Florida, her brother Austin Hilton Jr. and his wife Leontine of Beverly, sister Kathleen Underwood of New Mexico, her sisters-in-law Charlotte Hilton, Agnes Magone and Shirly Hilton, 13 nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren; Alison Gulbrandsen Mirabelli, Kristen, Kelsea, Tori, Eric, Nicholas, Meaghan Gulbrandsen, Danica Steele Cockrell and Jameson Steele, and one great-grandchild Nolen Cockrell. Barbara was the mother of the late Deborah Gulbrandsen, sister of the late Richard Hilton, John Hilton, and Ethel Trask.

A funeral Service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in North Beverly Cemetery. Information, directions condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com
