Obituary: Gloria (Caron) Purdy, Worked at the Former Caron's Diner

She and her husband loved to travel taking trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas and also went on cruises.

Gloria (Caron) Purdy, 87, of Beverly MA and formerly of Peabody, died on Thursday, June 25 2015 at the Beverly Hospital with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Malcolm John Purdy.

She was born in Peabody on February 21, 1928, the daughter of the late Honore and Louise (Ouellette) Caron and had resided in Peabody for 57 years before moving to Beverly 30 years ago.

She worked as a waitress at her families Diner formerly known as Caron’s Diner in Salem for many years. This is where she met her husband. Gloria and her husband loved to travel taking trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas and also went on cruises. She had been a member of the former Cy Tenney Club of West Peabody. Her most cherished time was spent being with her family and enjoying the family gatherings during the years.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna M. and Joseph Jean Julien of Beverly and Debra and Stephen Zielski of Peabody and Lisa and Christopher Pompei of Cape Coral, Florida and a son, John Purdy of Haverhill, MA, her four grandchildren, Greg and his wife Katherine Julien of Haverhill, Dean and Ericka Julien of Beverly, Sean Purdy of Haverhill and Alisha and her husband Jeffrey Bartlett of Danvers, 4 great grandchildren, Madeline, Sophia, Charlotte and Blake and many nieces and nephews. She was one of thirteen children and has two surviving siblings, Carol Julien and Marie Dziernowski both of New Hampshire.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, from 2 until 6 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
