BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline’s Coolidge Corner area may celebrate a new dining arrival next month with the anticipated launch of Barlette, described by its owners as a BYOB bar.

Barlette’s website was advertising a February opening as of Tuesday morning.

“It’s been a long time coming, but we’re close!” the site said.

Brookline town records show Cobble chef/owner Emily Vena applied for a common victualler/entertainment license for Barlette back in August of 2021. More than 16 months later, the spot is now close to its opening day.

Vena detailed the concept for Barlette in filings with her license application. The BYOB format will encourage guests to bring their own beer, wine or spirits to pair with pre-selected “elevated bar bites.” Such offerings could include creations ranging from a crispy chickpea dish to a “twisted Philly slider” featuring smoked beef, smoked shishito peppers, onion relish and provolone fonduta, according to documents from 2021.

While Barlette won’t be serving its own liquor, a beverage menu envisions offering homemade cocktail mixers to pair with drinks that guests bring.

"We can't hold your liquor, but you can," reads one Barlette tagline on the bar's Instagram page.

Guests interested in Barlette can add their name to a mailing list to be notified when reservations become available.

Vena’s Barlette cofounder Rachel Trudel spoke at length about plans for Barlette in a recent interview with Boston Magazine.
