House Hunters To Feature Brookline

If you happened to see a couple being followed around by cameras looking at homes recently. Here's why.

BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline is ready for its close up. The town as many of you may remember has been in featured on shows from Chronicle to This Old House. Now another long-running TV show is slated to feature Brookline shortly.

If you've seen the "reality" TV show House Hunters, you know the drill, a couple is looking for a home, we get to see what went into their shopping around and decision making process and in a tidy span of 30 minutes. There are usually three homes that we get to see along with a couple and in the end we get what they choose that's within their budget.

Tuesday May 1 at 10 p.m. the show follows new parents Daryl and Jen Donatelli while they hunt for their first home in Brookline where they had been renting a condo.

It all began when their Realtor Danielle Schlesier of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Brookline was
selected for the show. Convincing the couple to join her wasn’t too tough, said Schlesier.

“It’s absolutely something we would do,” Daryl Donatelli said. “It made our home search fun.”

The show follows the trio as they tour three homes throughout Brookline. With the new baby, the couple agreed they wanted move-in ready. However, Jen and Daryl differed a bit when it came to some other needs.

“I had my heart set on some outdoor space,” said Jen. “But Daryl really wanted a brownstone near the T.”

The HGTV website says the show focuses on the emotional experience of finding and purchasing a new home, each episode shows the process as buyers search for a home. While critics have accused the show of not exactly being a reality show, supporters argue that neither are any other reality shows.

“It was a very realistic portrayal of the process,” said Danielle. “Couples often find the most difficult part of a
house hunt is learning to communicate and compromise.”

“It was so much fun, and a great opportunity to show off our community and why it’s such a great place to
live,” said Danielle. “I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”

Jen agreed, “It was a fantastic experience and now we have this memory for our daughter to watch someday.”
