Chelmsford Bertucci's Spared From Closures

CHELMSFORD, MA – Massachusetts-based Italian restaurant chain Bertucci's announced this week it closed 15 locations after filing for bankruptcy. Thankfully, its Chelmsford restaurant was not one of them.

Bertucci's initially did not name the affected locations when it announced the move on Tuesday. A subsequent story in the Boston Business Journal reported six Massachusetts closings: Wayland, Randolph, Taunton, Amherst, Longmeadow and West Springfield.

The chain also closed two Boston locations when it came time to renew their leases.

CEO Brian Wright said the bankruptcy filing will position the struggling chain for "significant future growth."

"We are grateful for the service and loyalty of our team members and are looking forward to focusing on a return to Bertucci's roots: authentic, high quality, fresh ingredients that guests and team members alike crave and care about," Wright said in a statement.

The company plans to sell its assets to Illinois-based Right Lane Dough Acquisitions for about $20 million, according to the Associated Press.

Twenty-nine Bertucci's locations remain open in Massachusetts. Its Chelmsford restaurant is located at 14 Littleton Rd.
