Concord Police Department: Concord Police Department Welcomes Two New Officers Upon Graduation From MBTA Transit Police Academy

Chief Joseph O’Connor and the Concord Police Department are pleased to share that two new Concord Police Officers have joined the department after graduating from the 47th MBTA Transit Police Academy.

Officer Brendan Fitzgerald and Officer Leah Olansky graduated from the academy on Dec. 21, and will now begin field training with a senior officer in Concord. Both officers are now certified with the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST).

Officer Fitzgerald is a lifelong Concord resident and 2017 graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School. Officer Fitzgerald played varsity baseball throughout high school and for the last four years has volunteered to be a head coach for Concord-Carlisle Youth Baseball. Officer Fitzgerald graduated from Norwich University in May 2021, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. He was also a member of Corps of Cadets, which is a private military program that focuses on developing leaders.

Officer Fitzgerald has been a Traffic Officer for the Town of Concord since July 7, 2018.

Officer Olansky grew up in Bennington, Vermont, and is a 2015 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. She graduated from the Southern New Hampshire University in 2019, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice Studies. Officer Olansky also completed a double minor in Psychology and Environmental Science while playing varsity lacrosse for all four years at SNHU.
Officer Olansky worked as a public safety dispatcher for the Town of Concord for about two years before completing the police academy. She was assigned to the role of Communications Training Officer (CTO) in 2020.

“Officers Olansky and Fitzgerald have both worked hard and have graduated from the prestigious Transit Police Academy,” Chief O’Connor said. “As we approach the 150th anniversary of our Department’s inception, we are happy to have these Officers who will make a positive impact in our community.”
