Marlborough Water, Sewer Bills Going Up With New Rates In Place

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough's new water and sewer rates are now in effect, and residents will be paying a bit more than before.

The new rates began on July 1, which is when fiscal year 2025 began. For Marlborough residents, water rates will increase about 7 percent, and sewer rates will rise about 9.7 percent. The new rates will be in effect through June 30, 2025.

This is the first water and sewer rate increase in Marlborough since fiscal year 2023 began on July 1, 2022. Water rates stayed the same between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2024.

Marlborough estimates rates per 100 cubic feet, which is equal to about 748 gallons. Here are the fiscal year 2025 rates (ended June 30) for Marlborough residents compared to the 2024, 2023 and 2022 fiscal years:

Water:

  • 2025: $8.43 per 100 cubic feet
  • 2024: $7.87 per 100 cubic feet
  • 2023: $7.87 per 100 cubic feet
  • 2022: $7.61 per 100 cubic feet

Sewer

  • 2025: $9.23 per 100 cubic feet
  • 2024: $8.41 per 100 cubic feet
  • 2023: $8.41 per 100 cubic feet
  • 2022: $8.03 per 100 cubic feet

Marlborough charges separate rates for entities outside the city that use the Marlborough water and sewer system. Those rates increased $8.26 to $8.85 for water and $8.83 to $9.69 for sewer.
