Rashi School Honors Cindy and Andrew Janower & Jessica and Chuck Myers

Over 450 people attended The Rashi School’s Annual Dinner at the Seaport Hotel Boston on May 19. Amidst inspirational speeches, powerful videos and heartfelt tributes, the gala paid tribute to respected leaders Cindy and Andrew Janower of Needham and Jessica and Chuck Myers of Weston, Co-Chairs of RISE: Our Campaign for Rashi. The annual dinner marked the community launch of this important initiative. To date, the RISE campaign has raised $27.6 million in the first two years alone.

“We were thrilled to honor the Janowers and the Myerses,” stated Head of School Adam W. Fischer. “Their work on behalf of The Rashi School and the RISE Campaign is truly exceptional. Cindy, AJ, Chuck and Jessica embody the spirit of Rashi with their enduring passion, vision, dedication, and enthusiasm. It is a privilege to recognize these outstanding individuals.”

The Rashi School also proudly presented the Stephanie Rotsky Tikkun Alum Award to this year’s recipient, Jonathan “Jonny” Zackman ’11 of West Roxbury. This award was created to celebrate Rashi alumni who demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice and tikkun olam (repairing the world) in their lives beyond Rashi. Jonny is passionate about supporting the community through fostering meaningful connections, creating scalable programs, and being a mentor for local youth and peers. This distinguished award was created in 2012 and has now officially been named after Rashi’s beloved Director of Social Justice, Stephanie Rotsky, who is retiring in June after 36 years with The Rashi School. Through personal and professional efforts, ‘Tikkun Alums’ embody the values of social justice that were instilled in them as Rashi students.

Over the years, The Rashi School Annual Dinner has evolved into a joyous celebration of Rashi and its impact on the Jewish and global community. Notably, Rashi’s RISE Campaign now spans the entire Greater Boston community in an effort to help surpass the Campaign’s $30M goal to sustain Rashi's future.
