Researchers at McLean Hospital are investigating factors that make some teens better able to cope with stressful experiences and what makes some teens more vulnerable to experiencing depression. Teens will answer questions about their thoughts and feelings. Teens will also undergo an fMRI brain scan. Parent permission is required for teens under 18. Newton Public Schools participates in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. As part of this program, the district offers healthy meals every school day at every school, and the schools, Lincoln Eliot and Education Center, will be implemented under the Community Eligibility Provision. 
For the school year 2024-2025, all students may receive one free breakfast and lunch each day at school. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has provided funding for universally-free meals through the state budget. However, even though first meals are free, school districts are still required to provide students with information on how to apply for free and reduced-price meals for consideration for other state programs, such as Summer EBT.
