Open to all high-school aged singers, Harmony Explosion Camp Northeast (HXNE) provides top-notch vocal coaching and choral instruction in one dynamic, FUN event!Open to all high-school aged singers, Harmony Explosion Camp Northeast (HXNE) provides top-notch vocal coaching and choral instruction in one dynamic, FUN event!&nbsp;
Our young singers will practice their music and performance skills during the day, eat meals together in the college cafeteria, and appear on an evening show in front of an enthusiastic live audience along with lots of adult singers, including a world champion barbershop quartet. They will learn good vocal technique and performance skills taught by a highly qualified and respected Music Educator and a teaching quartet, all while making new friends through song.
We offer an all-voice chorus experience for young singers. The HX chorus will sing a cappella, close harmony in four voice parts with ranges that align with traditional choir roles such as soprano, alto, tenor and bass (SATB). The Barbershop tradition typically refers to those parts as Tenor, Lead, Baritone and Bass, and the music selections for the camp will be appropriate for all vocal ranges.
HXNE also has a special program for music teachers, and those pursuing music in college! … If you [teachers] join us at the camp, you will learn more about barbershop harmony as a traditional American art form that has now spread around the world. You will also learn where to find quality literature, helpful teaching techniques and resources, and how close harmony singing can be used in your program to help young musicians increase their skills and gain confidence. You will be immersed into a group of teachers who are passionate about enriching lives through singing.
