Local teachers Honored for Excellence

William Warren and Mary Ellen Kraft are this year's recipients of the MVHoward Teacher Recognition Award.

Congratulations to William Warren, physics teacher at Salem High School, and Mary Ellen Kraft, literacy specialist at Village School, Marblehead, this year's recipients of the Margaret Voss Howard Teacher Recognition Award. In separate ceremonies at their schools, the two teachers were recognized as "representatives of all the excellent, dedicated teachers in the community who make a difference to children every day."

Mr.Warren was lauded by students and recent high school alumni who cited his obvious passion for teaching and the many ways he engages students. Ms. Kraft's nominators were effusive in their praise for her creative initiatives with students and her inspiration and support of colleagues.

The award is a fund of the Essex County Community Foundation. A committee of local school administrators and Dr. Howard selected the honorees from nominations made by educators, students, and community members.
