SHREWSBURY, MA — Big changes may be coming to Route 20 in Shrewsbury, and MassDOT wants to hear what you think.

The state transportation agency is planning a renovation of the stretch of Route 20 between Route 9 and south to the intersection of Green and South streets. The project will address a lack of pedestrian infrastructure in the area, and may add two new roundabout intersections.

"The proposed project ... consists of the addition of an eastbound travel lane, left-turn lanes, two roundabouts and a median separating Route 20 eastbound and westbound directions between the two roundabouts," MassDOT said in a project description. "The project will also address the lack of multi-modal transportation options with the addition of 5 foot sidewalks and 10 foot shared use paths with grass buffers throughout the project area."
