Gun Pointing At Shrewsbury Gas Station Leads To Big Drug Seizure

Charlton police arrested the driver, a Worcester woman and a Dudley man after the incident at a local gas station.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Local police seized a large amount of drugs recently after tracking down a car involved in a gun-pointing incident at a Shrewsbury gas station.

According to Charlton police, officers from the department on July 2 pulled over a driver along Stafford Street after seeing the vehicle reportedly involved in the gun-pointing incident.

The driver, John Gilchrist, of Charlton, was carrying a gun, but police said it was his passenger, Kenneth Mardirosian, of Dudley, who pointed the gun in Shrewsbury. A Worcester woman was also riding in the car.

After the traffic stop, police arrested Gilchrist on a host of weapons charges because the gun he was carrying was missing its serial number. Police also seized his car.

Charlton police later searched Gilchrist's car and found hundreds of grams of drugs, including cocaine, heroin and various prescription opioids and amphetamines. Police also found over $25,000 in cash in the car.

After the search, police updated Gilchrist's charges to include drug trafficking and possession of illegal drugs. The Worcester woman, Julyette Alba, and Mardirosian were arrested on the same charges, police said.
