SHREWSBURY, MA — April's full moon — known as the "pink moon," although it won't actually be that color — will begin to peak over the weekend, and there will be a special opportunity to view it in Shrewsbury.

The Shrewsbury Trails Committee Sunday will lead a pink moon walk at Lake Street Park with viewing opportunities, and a discussion about the bats that are beginning to become active around this time of year. The trails committee will also have a telescope available for moon views.

This month's pink moon, also known as the sprouting grass moon, egg Moon or fish moon, will peak on Tuesday night, but will appear nearly full Sunday and Monday. The moon will be colored yellow, but apparently gets its name from the color of flowers that bloom in April.
