WALTHAM, MA — A Boston man faces drug distribution charges after an investigation into two fatal overdoses in Waltham, officials announced this week.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Chief of Police Kevin O’Connell have confirmed that Jourdan Henderson, 35, of Boston, is charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and oxycodone.

Detectives conducted a forensic analysis of the men’s phones and were able to identify numerous text messages consistent with drug activity. The conversations were allegedly organizing deals and discussing payments as recently as the morning of the fatal overdoses, officials said.

Police arranged to meet Henderson under the guise of purchasing illicit narcotics, officials said. During the meeting police allegedly located nine oxycodone pills, approximately seven grams of a white powdery substance believed to be fentanyl-laced cocaine, about $2,500 in cash and "materials consistent with drug packaging and distribution including a scale and baggies," officials said.

Henderson was arraigned in Waltham District Court and ordered held on $1,000 bail. The next date in this case is May 30.
