Waltham Construction Project Causing Major Traffic

The Belmont construction project on Trapelo Road has already caused "significant" traffic backup, police said. Here's what they suggest.

A detour went into effect on Trapelo Road by the Belmont line between Waverly Oaks Road and Mill Street earlier this week and will remain in effect until Nov. 1, but officials said they're aware that it's causing "significant" traffic backup in the area.

"To alleviate the backup and reduce delays, we want to offer an alternative detour route to Belmont," police said.

"Motorists may consider using Concord Ave in Belmont to Mill St to Trapelo Rd. Mill St will bring you out to Belmont, just beyond the construction."
