Will Winter Storm Bypass Winchester?

Light snow is possible, but check the forecast throughout the weekend.

The approaching snowstorm that has prompted state of emergency alerts from Virginia up the East Coast to New York City and expected to bring more than a feet of snow to parts of the East Coast this weekend is expected to lightly coat or altogether bypass Winchester.

According to National Weather Service, these conditions are estimated for this weekend:

Friday morning: Sunny, high of 29. Northwest wind 3-7 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloud, low of 15. Light north wind.

Saturday morning: 30 percent chance of snow, mostly after 2 p.m. with a high near 29, northeast wind 5-11 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph and little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday night: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of snow before 1 a.m. and a low of 20, north wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday morning: Mostly sunny with a high near 32.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 19.
