Worcester Offers Cooling Centers As Stifling Heat Continues
Three locations across Worcester will offer bottled water and air conditioning for residents who need it.
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester residents who need to cool down during Wednesday's expected dangerous heat should head to one of three cooling centers across the city, officials said.
The city will offer bottled water at the cooling centers, plus air conditioning. Here's where you can go on Wednesday:
- Worcester Public Library Main Branch, 3 Salem Square, open to 8:30 p.m.
- Worcester Public Library Francis Perkins Branch, 470 West Boylston St., Open to 5:30 p.m.
- Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence St., Open to 4 p.m.
WRTA buses are free and provide service to each of the cooling centers.

Worcester could see highs in the low 90s on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. But add in humidity, and the heat index could make it feel closer to 100. The city is under a heat advisory until 8 p.m.
Temperatures will only cool slightly into the mid-80s on Thursday before rising again over the weekend to near 90.
