3 Students, Driver Injured In MI School Bus Crash On I-94: Police

Police said the crash happened Wednesday morning on Interstate 94 near Jackson.

BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, MI — A Jackson County school bus driver and three students were injured in a Wednesday morning crash involving a semi truck on Interstate 94, according to Michigan State Police.

Police said the school bus, which was carrying 11 special needs students, was moving west on Interstate 94 near north U.S. 127 in Blackman Township at 9:30 a.m. when the bus hydroplaned on the wet road and the driver lost control of the bus.

The bus then hit a semi truck and rolled over, while the truck slammed into a wall on the freeway, according to police.

The bus driver and three students were injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital, where their conditions were not immediately known, according to police.

The driver of the semi truck, an adult attendant on the bus and eight other students were not injured in the crash, according to police.

Police believe the wet roadway and speed were factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.
