Oakland Schools is putting out an urgent call for paraprofessionals to assist local classroom teachers. There are approximately 22,000 students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in Oakland County who benefit from the services provided by paraprofessionals.

“Parapros help support the overall education of students by assisting them with equal access to curriculum while also helping students to become contributing members of society,” said Oakland Schools’ Executive Director of Special Populations Karen Olex. “We are in desperate need of them here in Oakland County and are encouraging those who believe they are qualified to apply.”
