Meijer Apologizes, Offers $10 Gift Cards - But You'll Need to Act Quickly

Credit and debit card systems went offline on two consecutive days in February, inconveniencing customers.

Grand Rapids-based Meijer is offering $10 gift cards to customers inconvenienced by two recent data and credit card system failures.

The coupons, valid when customers spend $50 or more, must be used Friday or Saturday, March 20-21,the retailer said.

“You deserve better. We’re committed to offering our customers a great experience, and that didn’t happen during a network outage in late February,” the company said in a statement, according to The Grand Rapids Press/MLive.com.

The outages, which lasted about 30 minutes, occurred on consecutive days, Feb. 27-28. Some customers who did not have cash to pay for their items were forced to leave their carts behind, the store said.

Meijer has stores in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
