At Least 2 Fatal Crashes Were Reported In The Twin Cities Over The Weekend

One crash involved a semi-trailer and the second crash involved two SUVs, according to officials.

TWIN CITIES, MN — At least two fatal crashes were reported in the Twin Cities metro area over the weekend.

The first crash was reported around 7 a.m. in Eden Prairie. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a semi-truck hauling potatoes drifted into the right shoulder before and into the right ditch before rolling over and coming to rest on the roof.

A 58-year-old Little Falls man was killed in the crash, the state patrol said.

The second crash occurred in Fridley around 12:27 p.m. near the 500 block of University Ave NE.

Fridley police said that according to early indications, two SUVs were going north on the road when one of them made minor contact with the second one that was in front of it. The SUV then drifted off the road into a nearby pole, police said. The driver of the SUV, identified only as an adult male, died at the scene.

The woman driving the second SUV was not injured, according to police.
