Volunteer English Teacher / Tutor in Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Edina, or Richfield with Metro South

Volunteer English Teacher / Tutor in Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Edina, or Richfield with Metro South

The mission of Metro South Adult Basic Education (MSABE) is to support the efforts of all adults who wish to improve their lives through literacy, education, career development and lifelong learning. Through a consortium of four public school districts, Metro South functions as a bridge, connecting adult learners to important next steps in life.

Metro South volunteers play a critical role in helping adult learners enrolled in Metro South Adult Basic Education. As advocates of lifelong learning, MSABE volunteers have helped thousands of students prepare for the GED test, earn a high school diploma, or learn English as a second language.

Volunteers of all skill levels are encouraged to join the team! We will provide any necessary training.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn interpersonal and intercultural communications, and gain valuable experience teaching and tutoring recent immigrants, refugees, and adult learners of all backgrounds.

Time Commitment:

  • 1-2 hours per week for most placements.
  • Six (or more!) months with Metro South, as this best serves the volunteering relationship and educational goals of the learner. However, a number of short-term placements are also available.
  • Volunteers are needed during the day, evenings, and Saturdays!
