Please share this information with anyone who may be vulnerable to this type of crime.

September 9, 2020

On Sept. 8, Eden Prairie Police responded to a home in the 17000 block of W. 62nd Street after three males posing as utility workers gained entry to the residence by telling the elderly homeowner they were on site to perform an energy check.

If you do not have a scheduled appointment with your utility company and a utility worker knocks on your door, you should always expect them to show proper identification. As an extra precaution, you can ask them to wait outside while you call the phone number you have for the utility company, to confirm they have sent a representative to your home.
