Here are the top three stories in Rochester-Mason City today:

  1. On Thursday, Mar. 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the City of Rochester will host an open house regarding the next phase of the North Broadway Avenue Reconstruction project. Attendees will view community-feedback-based updated construction plans, proposed construction staging, and schedule for phase two of the reconstruction, which spans from the Silver Lake Bridge to Elton Hills Drive Northwest. The open house will be located at 125 Live at 125 Elton Hills Drive Northwest. (KROC-AM)
  2. On Friday, Mar. 17, 39-year-old Marcus Archie was arraigned in Olmsted County Court on felony charges of second and third-degree burglary, second-degree possession of burglary tools, possession of burglary or theft tools and first-degree damage to property. Archie was arrested in connection to the Mar. 6 burglary at Maven Apartments, a downtown Rochester apartment complex. Rochester Police later arrested Archie for trespassing in the same apartment complex in the 400 block of Broadway Avenue South on Mar. 16. Surveillance video allegedly identified Archie as the suspect of the burglary. Archie's next court date is Mar. 28. (KROC-AM)
  3. The Rochester Council, acting as the city’s Economic Development Authority, will be asked to temporarily lift income limits for half of the 108 apartments in the newly built Bryk on Broadway Apartments, which are designated for the building’s highest income bracket. The rest of the apartments are reserved for residency program students, nurses, and other service-industry workers in the downtown area who earn less than 80 percent of the area's median income. The council will consider the request after its regular 7:00 p.m. meeting on Mar. 20. (Post Bulletin)
