MINNEAPOLIS — Five of the 100 worst greenhouse gas polluters in Minnesota are located in the city of Minneapolis, according to a new report.

XCEL ENERGY'S RIVERSIDE GENERATING PLANT: 924,385 metric tons of CO2 emissions (power plant)

HENNEPIN ENERGY RECOVERY CENTER, MINNEAPOLIS: 157,887 metric tons of CO2 emissions (incinerator)

CLEARWAY COMMUNITY ENERGY PLANT: 92,903 metric tons of CO2 emissions (power plant)

HENNEPIN COUNTY ENERGY CENTER: 32,330 metric tons of CO2 emissions (power plant)

CONSOLIDATED PRECISION PRODUCTS: 24,356 metric tons of CO2 emissions (manufacturing)

In 2019 alone, Minnesota's 100 worst polluters added 40 million metric tons of greenhouse gases into Earth's atmosphere, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
