Allina Health, SEIU Avoid Strike With Tentative Agreement

MINNEAPOLIS — A seven-day strike will be avoided after representatives from Allina Health and SEIU Healthcare reached a tentative agreement at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

More than 500 members of SEIU will need to vote on the agreement before it can be ratified. However, the SEIU said it will withdraw the unfair labor practice strike notice it filed late last month.

"Allina Health is pleased with the settlement that values the priorities of both parties and is fair and equitable to our employees, patients and our communities," the health system said in a statement.

The agreement comes after more than a year of negotiations, including a final bargaining session that lasted 19 hours, union officials said.

Union officials said they were prepared to strike over suspended wage increases and reduced our PTO carry-over rates.

The collective bargaining agreement will impact various workers at Central Laboratory, Abbott Northwestern, and all Mercy hospitals, including:
